The Carlsbad Cavemen beat Hobbs 41-40 last Friday and get them again this Saturday, this time in the first round of the 6A playoffs. It’s Carlsbad’s first home playoff game in 15 years.
This week’s Cavemen Insider breaks down the wild finish, including Lennon Ananins’ late strip that flipped the game. It covers Brock Wright’s 5-touchdown night, Junior Medrano’s 415 passing yards for Hobbs, and what each team needs to fix for the rematch. Then Cavemen defenders Juan Rubio and Damian Valencia join the show. They talk about Selection Sunday, Juan’s interception touchdown on a pitch, Damian’s two picks against Las Cruces, the defense’s “bend, don’t break” mindset, and who they’re playing for on Saturday.
